Delhi to receive 1,000 tonnes of onions for ₹35-a-kg sales
The Delhi government says onions supplied by the Union government will be sold through fair price shops and mobile vans as retail prices sit around ₹50-60 a kg.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said 1,000 metric tonnes of onions will be made available to Delhi at a retail price of ₹35 per kg. The supply is intended for sale through fair price shops and one mobile van in each of the Capital’s 13 districts.
Delhi will receive 1,000 metric tonnes of onions for sale at ₹35 per kg, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said. Retail onion prices in the city are around ₹50-60 per kg.
The Union government will supply the onions, which will be sold through fair price shops and mobile vans. The Chief Minister’s Office said one van will operate in each of Delhi’s 13 districts to reach residents who may not be able to visit a fair price shop.
Gupta said the government was monitoring onion prices and availability in Delhi. Sales will begin through fair price shops and district mobile vans after the stocks are supplied.
