Delhi traffic curbs around Red Fort for August 13 rehearsal

Delhi commuters using Ring Road, central Delhi and the Red Fort area should plan for diversions on Thursday morning, when the Independence Day full-dress rehearsal will bring road closures from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Only authorised vehicles will be permitted near India Gate and on stretches of Ring Road and Outer Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate. Police have suggested north-south routes via Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Sardar Patel Marg, Mandir Marg and Rani Jhansi Road. The DND–NH24 (NH9)–Yudhister Setu–Signature Bridge–Wazirabad Bridge route will remain open for access to Ring Road.

From midnight on August 12 until 11 a.m. on August 13, goods vehicles will be barred between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge. Inter-state buses will not run between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT during the same period. DTC and other local buses will also be diverted off Ring Road between ISBT Kashmere Gate and Nizamuddin Khatta until 10 a.m.

The Old Iron Bridge and Geeta Colony Bridge towards Shanti Van will be closed. Kite flying and other aerial objects are prohibited around Independence Day programme venues until August 16.
