Delhi Traffic Police advise detours near Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

Commuters approaching the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway from Vikas Marg and Akshardham were advised to take alternate routes after a temporary closure or restriction on the corridor.

Delhi Traffic Police issued the alert around noon on August 20, asking drivers to avoid the approach for some time to limit congestion. Traffic personnel were deployed at key points to guide vehicles and carry out diversions where needed.

The expressway connects Delhi with western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, so restrictions on the route can also slow traffic on connecting roads, particularly during busy hours. For residents travelling from the Vikas Marg or Akshardham side, the immediate change is to factor in a detour and extra travel time.

Police have asked commuters to cooperate with staff on the ground and plan journeys around the restriction.
