Delhi Traffic Police plans daily drives at 62 congestion hotspots

Delhi Traffic Police plans a daily enforcement programme at 62 congestion hotspots, targeting the recurring behaviour or obstruction causing delays at each location.

Under the proposed ‘Drive of the Day’, teams will select one issue at one location as that day’s priority. Depending on the stretch, this may include wrong-side driving, illegal parking, roadside obstructions, unauthorised stopping, vehicles blocking key road space or stray cattle.

Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary said the aim is to identify the problem at each spot and make it the day’s enforcement priority. The identified locations include Bhavbhuti Marg, Kashmere Gate, Madhuban Chowk, Anand Vihar, South Extension and Punjabi Bagh.

Police plan to assess whether the drives improve traffic flow and whether the same problems return after enforcement is reduced. Officials expect to roll out the initiative within a month.
