Delhi Traffic Police report fewer waterlogging points this monsoon

Delhi Traffic Police have reported a lower number of waterlogging points in the city during this year’s monsoon season so far.

At a review of monsoon and traffic preparedness chaired by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday, police said 65 waterlogging points had been recorded up to August 5. In 2024, the corresponding count was 194.

For Delhi NCR commuters, waterlogging remains closely tied to traffic disruption during heavy rain, particularly where roads become difficult to pass or vehicle movement slows. The latest police update points to a lower recorded count this season than last year, though residents may still need to factor rain-related delays into travel plans during the remaining monsoon period.

The review brought monsoon preparedness and traffic management together, with the waterlogging count forming part of the city’s operational assessment. The figures cover the monsoon season up to August 5 and compare it with the 2024 count cited by police.
