Delhi under yellow alert for rain on Friday and Saturday

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Friday and Saturday, forecasting several spells of light rain across most areas and moderate rain at isolated locations.

Thursday’s maximum temperature reached 34.9°C, while the heat index touched 46.8°C at 2:30 pm. Overcast skies and rain could bring Friday’s maximum down to 31-33°C, followed by 30-32°C on Saturday. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 25°C and 27°C on Friday.

Safdarjung, Delhi’s base weather station, recorded no rain between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on Thursday. Some localities did receive showers: Jharoda Kalan logged 9.5 mm, Jafarpur 2.5 mm, Najafgarh 1 mm and Pusa 0.5 mm. Palam recorded trace rainfall.

Delhi’s air quality was in the “satisfactory” category, with an AQI of 74. The forecast indicates little likelihood of rain from Monday to Wednesday.
