Delhi rain: IMD forecasts thunderstorms and heavy showers

Safdarjung recorded 3 mm of rain by 8.30am on Tuesday, after Delhi received fresh showers, waterlogging and traffic jams in several areas.

The India Meteorological Department forecast moderate rain at many places across Delhi, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall possible in isolated locations. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also likely. At 5.30am, Safdarjung recorded a temperature of 26.6°C and humidity of 100%.

Rain was also reported on Shanti Path. The showers follow heavy rain on Monday that disrupted traffic across Delhi-NCR and led to flight diversions.

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport issued a passenger advisory at 7.20am, saying weather conditions were affecting the airport vicinity while flight operations were normal. Passengers should check the latest flight status with their airlines before travelling.
