Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat sets daily ridership record
The 82-km RRTS corridor recorded more than 1.6 lakh riders on Thursday ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
More than 1.6 lakh passengers used the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor on Thursday, its highest daily count so far. NCRTC added 47 trips across August 27 and 28, bringing services to an eight-minute frequency for the festival rush.
More than 1.6 lakh passengers travelled on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor on Thursday, setting a new daily ridership record ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
The 82-km RRTS line, inaugurated on February 22, has been carrying more than one lakh passengers a day on average. Its previous peak was 1,49,922 commuters on August 3, following an earlier high of about 1.25 lakh on June 8.
Begumpul, Ghaziabad and Anand Vihar are the corridor’s busiest stations. To manage festival travel, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation added 47 services on August 27 and 28, with trains running every eight minutes on both days.
For end-to-end travellers, Namo Bharat trains take 58 minutes from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram in Meerut. The journey to Begumpul takes 54 minutes. The standard fare between Sarai Kale Khan and Modipuram is Rs 210, while premium-coach passengers pay 20% more.
