Delhi AQI at 55 after light rain; maximum temperature stays below 30°C

Delhi recorded an air quality index of 55 on Sunday, its second-best reading of 2026. Light rain reached several parts of the city.

Safdarjung recorded 2.4 mm of rain between 8.30am and 5.30pm. The Ridge in north Delhi received 13.8 mm, while Palam logged 4.9 mm and Lodhi Road 2 mm. Safdarjung’s September rainfall so far stands at 74.3 mm, against the month’s normal of 123.5 mm.

The India Meteorological Department forecast another spell of very light to light rain at a few places overnight and on Monday. It expects dry weather from Tuesday to September 12.

Sunday’s maximum temperature was 29.1°C, five degrees below normal and below 30°C for a second straight day. The minimum was 24.6°C, one degree below normal. The IMD expects maximum temperatures to rise to 33°C-35°C over the next few days as rainfall activity weakens.
