Delhi’s draft voter roll is set to omit 4.75 million electors on August 31

About 4.75 million of Delhi’s 14,510,299 electors are expected to be missing from the draft electoral roll due for publication on August 31.

The draft, prepared under the Special Intensive Revision exercise, will include voters whose enumeration forms were submitted and digitised during the door-to-door drive that ended on August 17. The Delhi chief electoral officer said forms for about 67.21% of electors have been digitised, placing roughly 9.75 million names on the draft roll.

Those left out have been marked “uncollectable” under the absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and others categories. Their exclusion is not final: claims and objections can be filed between August 31 and September 30.

The draft’s publication will also start scrutiny of voters whose details could not be linked to the 2002 intensive revision roll, or whose forms have anomalies. Officials said nearly 34% of electors who submitted forms may receive notices because their details could not be mapped.

Claims and objections will be examined before the notice-and-disposal process ends on October 29. The final electoral roll is scheduled for November 4.
