Delhi’s H1N1 tally reaches 2,612 after 166 cases in a day

Delhi added 166 H1N1 cases in 24 hours, taking its cumulative tally to 2,612; reported Influenza-A cases rose to 3,300.

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh visited Indira Gandhi Hospital on Thursday to review its isolation beds, emergency services, testing infrastructure, medicine stocks and staffing. The hospital has started a dedicated flu clinic and set aside isolated beds for influenza patients who need treatment.

Delhi government hospitals have been directed to maintain at least five isolation beds. Larger facilities must keep 10 or more beds available for influenza and vector-borne disease cases, alongside shift-wise rosters and round-the-clock medical staffing.

The rise follows 138 H1N1 cases reported a day earlier, when the cumulative tally stood at 2,446. A pulmonologist advised people with high fever lasting more than two or three days, breathlessness, chest pain or a persistent cough to seek testing rather than self-medicate.
