Delhi to end paper pink bus tickets on September 17

September 17 will be the last day women can use paper pink tickets for free rides on Delhi’s DTC and cluster buses.
From September 18, free travel will require a Pink Saheli National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), the Transport Department said. Women who are not Delhi residents will have to buy tickets.
The card system, launched on March 2, replaces the paper-ticket arrangement. Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said around 19 lakh women had applied or registered for the card.
The city has reduced card distribution centres from 73 to 38. It had expanded the network from 50 centres when the scheme was launched. The September 17 deadline follows an earlier extension of paper pink tickets.
