Delhi plan proposes 50 pollution workshops and road ‘walkshops’

Delhi’s proposed 2026 pollution-awareness campaign includes “walkshops” on dust-prone roads, intended to show residents conditions on unpaved streets and during street redevelopment work.

The Delhi government has submitted its 2026 Information, Education and Communication plan to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). The plan proposes 50 awareness drives and workshops by urban local bodies for residents, resident welfare associations, schools, colleges and other educational institutions.

It proposes 20 activities from October to December, followed by 10 activities each in January to March, April to June and July to September. The plan schedules engagement beyond the winter pollution season.

CAQM’s framework, issued in March, asked NCR governments and states to prepare detailed plans and appoint a nodal department or agency to coordinate them. It allows outreach through print, electronic and digital media, social media, community programmes and stakeholder engagement.

CAQM member secretary Tarun Kumar Pithode said the campaign should involve periodic repetition, continuous monitoring, regular maintenance and stronger coordination between agencies.
