Delhi’s rain total reaches 814.5mm as cooler, wetter spell continues

Delhi added 29.8mm of rain on Saturday, taking its annual total to 814.5mm—above the long-period average of 774.4mm.

Overcast skies held through the day, broken by sudden downpours. Chattarpur received 39.5mm between 8.30am and 5.30pm, followed by Palam at 35.6mm, Lodhi Road at 30.8mm and Safdarjung at 29.8mm. Delhi had already crossed its annual rainfall normal on Friday evening; GTK reported that milestone.

The rain also brought a marked temperature drop. The maximum settled at 27.6°C, 6.5°C below normal and 7.5°C lower than Friday’s 35.1°C. The minimum was 24.8°C.

Air quality remained in the satisfactory category, with Delhi’s average AQI at 59 on Saturday. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain in several spells on Sunday. It does not expect rain from Monday through Friday as westerly winds begin flowing over the city.
