Faridabad delivery worker arrested in Greenfield Colony robbery case

A 24-year-old delivery executive has been arrested in connection with the alleged robbery of gold and diamond jewellery worth at least ₹10 lakh from a home in Faridabad’s Greenfield Colony.

Police said the man first came to the house at about 10am on Wednesday, apparently to confirm a parcel delivery. He allegedly returned at about 11.30am, after one woman’s mother-in-law opened the door, entered with a knife and held both women at knifepoint.

The women handed over jewellery kept at home, police said. The man then fled.

A written complaint was filed at Surajkund police station on Friday. Police registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions relating to robbery with restraint, house-trespass after preparation for hurt or restraint, and criminal intimidation.

Crime branch teams traced the man through technical surveillance, police said. He is from Fatehabad in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, and had lived in Faridabad’s Ganpati Colony for the past few years. Investigators said he had frequently delivered parcels to the house and allegedly knew the two women were usually there alone.

Police said they are trying to recover the jewellery and the knife.
