DLF residents seek property regularisation policy at Gurgaon mahapanchayat

Residents from DLF Phases 1 to 5, Nathupur and adjoining villages gathered at a mahapanchayat on Wednesday, seeking a halt to sealing and demolition action and a policy to regularise some existing properties.

The Ghar-Gaon-Shahar Bachao Sangharsh Samiti organised the meeting. An 11-member delegation later submitted a memorandum to the Gurgaon deputy commissioner, asking the Haryana government to consider regularisation for residential and commercial properties instead of demolition.

The delegation said no house, whether old or newly built, should be demolished without due process. It proposed that buildings constructed beyond the stilt-plus-four norm be regularised on payment of prescribed fees. It also sought relief for shops and other commercial properties, including those on 18-metre and 24-metre roads.

In its memorandum, the group sought ownership rights for families it said had lived on panchayat land for years, with charges based on prevailing tehsildar rates. It also asked authorities to recognise inherited ownership documents without repeatedly seeking fresh records.

The delegation further requested a Gurgaon policy for paying-guest accommodation and guest houses, referring to policies in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Bengaluru.
