Doddaballapur AC technician arrested over alleged Instagram contacts

Syed Abubakar, a 25-year-old AC technician from Islampura in Doddaballapur, has been arrested after police alleged he interacted on Instagram with an account linked to a Pakistani criminal network.

A complaint by police constable Rupesh Yadav, who works with the intelligence staff at Doddaballapur Town police station, said he received information while gathering intelligence in Islampura on August 20. Police said Abubakar appeared suspicious when questioned and tried to leave without giving satisfactory answers.

During a preliminary check of his phone, police said they found an Instagram account using the name sayedabubakar313 interacting with an account identified as Hammadmemon333. They alleged that he had liked reels posted by Pakistani gangsters, uploaded gangster videos as Instagram statuses, and shared his identity card with that account. Photographs of pistols were also found on the phone, police said.

Police have booked him under Sections 113(3) and 197(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. His phone has been sent to the forensic science laboratory for data retrieval, and police said they may seek his custody again if required.
