Dombivli Friendship Run on November 29 targets 10,000 participants

Dombivli’s third Friendship Run will be held on November 29, with organisers aiming for 10,000 participants. The first two editions drew about 6,000 runners, organisers said.

The programme includes timed 21.1-km, 10-km and 5-km races, along with 5-km and 1.6-km fun runs. The 1.6-km run is free for children aged eight to 16. Organisers have set aside prizes worth about Rs 3 lakh for winners in the timed categories.

Registered runners will receive a dry-fit T-shirt, finisher’s medal, hydration and refreshments. Participants in timed categories will also receive timing chips and qualification certificates. Participation certificates and photographs will be available to all runners.

Kalyan Dombivli Runners is organising the event with Dombivlikar Ek Sanskrutik Parivar. Organisers say the Thane District Athletic Association will recognise the run, and have invited runners, families, children and senior citizens from Thane district and elsewhere in Maharashtra.

Registration closes on October 31. Organisers are expected to announce the route shortly.
