Five University of Mumbai student delegates will travel to Bristol from October 29 to November 5 to study community-based climate resilience models, accompanied by project lead Dr Aparna Phadke.
The exchange is part of COOL CRYMB — COmmunity cO-creation lab for Local Climate Resilience: Empowering Youth with Green Skills in Mumbai and Bristol — a partnership between the University of Mumbai and the University of Bristol. Supported through British Council–HSBC Climate Skills Global Collaboration Grants, it focuses on green skills, entrepreneurship and community-led responses to climate risks, particularly for young people from marginalised communities.
The project has engaged more than 200 young participants, 41 faculty members from 41 institutions and 10 NGO members. Its community co-creation labs operate across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Konkan districts.
Five young people from Bristol visited Mumbai from October 12 to 16, including community labs at Juhu Mora Gaon and Thane Solid Waste Management. They also attended the Re-Root Showcase, where participants discussed community participation, green skills and socio-ecological resilience.
