A new three-tier task group will monitor academic performance and support government schools across Delhi’s headquarters, districts and zones.
Delhi’s education department has set up an academic task group under its examination branch to review school-level targets and identify learning and performance gaps. The structure includes a seven-member headquarters team, district teams and zonal teams involving principals and teachers.
School heads in Delhi’s government schools will upload academic targets through the education department’s management information system, where a new seven-member headquarters team will review them.
The academic task group, formed under the examination branch and led at headquarters by the additional director of education (examination), will monitor progress against targets and provide support to schools. It will work across headquarters, district and zonal levels, with district teams assessing performance and preparing strategies suited to their areas.
At the zonal level, teams led by deputy directors of education will include a principal as member-coordinator and two to five teachers nominated by the district deputy director. They will monitor individual schools, identify gaps and put improvement plans into effect.
Teachers and officers selected for the group will be deployed to these teams. If that creates a staffing shortfall, school heads can seek district approval to appoint guest or contractual teachers for the same subject.
