Delhi Traffic Police forms driver panel near Chhattarpur Metro station

Delhi Traffic Police has formed a committee of auto and e-rickshaw driver representatives to regulate stopping and parking around Chhattarpur Metro station.

Police said autos, e-rickshaws and Gramin Seva vehicles serving the station contribute to bottlenecks at CDR Chowk and Mandir Wali Road in Mehrauli, particularly during peak hours. The DCP (Traffic), Southern Range, inspected the stretch, where commuters transferring to and from the Metro and heavy pedestrian movement put pressure on the roads, officials said.

Police identified stopping and parking by autos and e-rickshaws as a key cause of congestion. The committee will coordinate with drivers to ensure vehicles park in a single line without blocking the carriageway or pedestrian movement.

The Traffic Inspector, Mehrauli, and personnel posted in the area have been directed to monitor the stretch and enforce parking and traffic rules against vehicles that do not comply.
