Gurgaon roads see visible dust during dry spell, HSPCB inspections find

Golf Course Extension Road, Old Delhi Road and Udyog Vihar are seeing visible road dust as vehicles pass exposed shoulders, loose soil and construction material during dry weather in Gurgaon.

On Golf Course Extension Road, ongoing work has left loose earth beside the carriageway. Heavy traffic and exposed roadside soil contribute to dust on Old Delhi Road. In Udyog Vihar, trucks and other commercial vehicles stir up dust from road surfaces and shoulders.

A joint inspection by Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) and Central Pollution Control Board teams found high visible dust on 34 of 125 MCG road stretches and moderate visible dust on 58 stretches. Four stretches showed no visible dust. Some high-dust stretches also had municipal and construction waste.

In a separate HSPCB audit of 340 roads, nearly 190 were found to have dust linked to potholes, unpaved surfaces and loose soil.

HSPCB has asked the agencies responsible for the roads to increase mechanised sweeping and water sprinkling during dry conditions, remove soil from road edges, cover construction material and repair damaged surfaces.
