Najafgarh: 22-year-old dies after collision involving DTC bus

Sonu, 22, a resident of Uttam Nagar, died after a collision involving a DTC bus and the scooty he was riding near Dichaon bus depot in Jai Vihar, Najafgarh, on Saturday evening, police said.

Sonta, 24, of Mohan Garden, who was riding pillion, was injured and taken to hospital. Both men worked at a private firm, police said. A PCR call about the crash reached police at 6.16pm; officers found Sonu dead and the Delhi-registered scooty at the scene.

Police said the bus driver left the spot after the collision and had not been apprehended. A forensic team examined the site and collected evidence. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage to establish how the crash occurred and whether another vehicle was involved.

Police registered a case at Baba Haridas Nagar police station under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which concerns causing death by negligence. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushalpal Singh said the bus involved was a Delhi Transport Corporation vehicle.
