DTC invites bids for AI system to track 6,269 Delhi buses

Delhi Transport Corporation has invited bids for an AI-enabled Bus Management System to monitor 6,269 buses across 52 depots.

The platform would cover 4,519 electric buses and 1,750 CNG and other fuel-operated vehicles, tracking routes, crew operations, trips and electric-bus charging cycles. For Delhi’s nearly 40 lakh daily bus users, the most visible change could be more accurate arrival estimates.

The system would draw live GPS and vehicle data, along with inputs from CCTV cameras, panic buttons and two-way communication systems. It would flag overspeeding, GPS failures, route deviations, bus bunching, breakdowns, accidents and panic-button activations. DTC also plans to use the data to identify missed stops, trips that do not start at their designated origin and buses leaving depots early.

For electric buses, the platform would monitor battery charge levels, charging operations and maintenance needs. It would also assess boarding patterns, route loads and peak-hour demand to help plan services and crew deployment.

DTC plans to provide live arrival estimates and service updates through Delhi Transport Stack, One Delhi and ONDC.
