Delhi University uses Class 12 marks for vacant undergraduate seats

More than 13,300 of Delhi University’s roughly 71,600 undergraduate seats remain unfilled after several admission rounds. The university has allowed selected colleges to admit students using Class 12 marks in a mop-up round.

The arrangement largely applies to off-campus colleges and course-college combinations that received too few applicants through the Common Seat Allocation System. Some North Campus vacancies will instead be filled through a CUET-based spot round.

DU listed 11 colleges for Class 12 merit admissions on August 20 and added four colleges the following day. It later included Indraprastha College for Women and Gargi College. The university used the same approach last year, when nearly 7,000 seats remained vacant after admission rounds.

CUET remains the primary route for undergraduate admissions. Under 2024 UGC procedures, universities may use board marks for vacant seats after completing their regular admission process.
