DUAC seeks documents for Dwarka Sector 23 ice rink proposal

The Delhi Urban Arts Commission (DUAC) has sought complete project information and a presentation from the architect for the Delhi Development Authority’s proposed ice rink at the Dwarka Sector 23 sports complex.

DUAC considered the proposal online and found the documentation incomplete, according to its meeting minutes. The minutes also said the submission did not include authorisation from the owner appointing the architect.

DUAC rules require the architect to explain the design concept, planning approach and compliance with planning, urban-design and architectural requirements.

DDA officials said most civil work on the rink has been completed and that the agency had earlier expected an inauguration within a couple of months. They said the proposal can be submitted again after the deficiencies identified by DUAC are addressed.

The proposed 60-metre-by-30-metre rink would occupy roughly 4,200 square metres in the cloverleaf section of the Dwarka Sector 23 sports complex. DDA plans to use it for the public and for competitions in ice skating, figure skating, ice hockey and curling.
