Delhi University DUSU polling Friday; North Campus traffic curbs in place

Delhi University will deploy 960 electronic voting machines for DUSU polling on Friday, with 40 more kept in reserve. Students in day classes can vote from 8.30am to 1pm, while polling for evening classes will run from 3pm to 7.30pm.

The ballot covers the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. Seven candidates are contesting for president, five for vice-president, and four each for secretary and joint secretary. ABVP, NSUI and the AISA-SFI alliance have each named candidates for all four posts.

Votes will be counted on September 19 at the Multipurpose Hall in the University Sports Stadium, North Campus. Chief Election Officer Raj Kishore Sharma said 12 control rooms would operate during polling, with experts available to address EVM glitches. Police will transport the machines to the counting venue after voting ends.

Vehicular movement is restricted on Chhatra Marg, Probyn Road and University Road. The curbs will remain in place on Friday and Saturday until results are declared.
