Eight Mandir Marg residential blocks with 145 quarters declared structurally unsafe

Eight residential blocks in a Mandir Marg colony, containing 145 quarters, have been declared structurally unsafe.

Four of the buildings were constructed in 1965-66 and contain 81 quarters. The other four, built in 1986, house 64 quarters. Together, they form the cluster identified as unsafe.

The classification concerns homes across two construction periods, with the oldest blocks now about six decades old. It adds to a wider safety concern around ageing and unsafe buildings in the capital. Earlier this month, a Delhi audit of paying-guest buildings identified four structures as dangerous after the Satya Niketan collapse.
