Fadnavis opens Global Fintech Fest 2026 expo in Mumbai

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Global Fintech Fest 2026 expo in Mumbai on Wednesday, inspecting fintech products, services and technologies on display.

At the festival’s seventh edition, Fadnavis said Maharashtra wanted to become one of the world’s largest real-world testing grounds for financial technology. He invited companies developing solutions using artificial intelligence, tokenisation and blockchain to work with the state.

“The real Indian fintech story is the democratisation of payments,” Fadnavis said, describing wider access to digital payments and financial services as a central part of India’s fintech growth.

He said Mumbai’s position as the country’s financial capital, alongside its established finance and technology infrastructure, could help the city develop as a major global fintech centre. The event’s theme this year is ‘Potential to Impact’.

Fadnavis also pointed to agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum technology as areas that could reshape finance. He said financial AI should give consumers more control over decisions while maintaining accountability, transparency and trust.
