Faridabad rider undergoes surgery after kite string injury on Old Faridabad flyover

Pankaj Kumar, 24, underwent emergency neck surgery after a kite string injured him while he was riding his motorcycle up the Old Faridabad flyover on Sunday morning.

Kumar, a Palla resident who works at an industrial equipment manufacturing firm in Faridabad, was returning from a relative’s home at about 10.45am when the string caught around his neck, police said. He fell on the road and also suffered a head injury.

Rupesh Kumar, a Ram Nagar Colony resident who was passing by in his car, took Pankaj to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital. Doctors referred him to Delhi as his condition was critical, but his family admitted him to a private hospital in Faridabad, according to his cousin Amrendra Kumar. Doctors performed emergency surgery and used 18 stitches to close the neck wound, Amrendra said.

Faridabad Police said they will record Pankaj’s statement once he is medically fit and then take legal action.
