First U-girder installed for Gurugram Metro near Cyber Park

A 160-tonne, 28-metre U-girder now sits on pillars 26 and 27 near Cyber Park, where construction has begun on the elevated viaduct for the Gurugram Metro expansion.

Workers lifted the structure late Friday night using 400-tonne and 600-tonne hydraulic cranes. Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh inaugurated the activity at the site and said construction would be accelerated while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The girders are cast in Sector 33, Naharpar Rupa, and transported to work sites on a roughly 40-metre multi-axle trailer-and-puller assembly. Each girder is about 5.05 metres wide and uses around 16 tonnes of reinforcement steel and 60 cubic metres of M-60 grade concrete.

The girders will form the upper structure of the viaduct, on which tracks will be laid.
