Five free cultural events in Delhi and Gurugram on September 8

Mannu Yadav, Anshika Singh and their group will perform Banaras’s kajri folk tradition at the India International Centre on Tuesday evening, followed by a Kathak recital by Prerna Rana.

The free programme begins at 6pm at the CD Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre, 40 Max Mueller Marg, Lodhi Road. Jor Bagh on the Yellow Line is the closest Metro station.

Dance and folk music in Delhi

At the India Habitat Centre, the Charukarya choreography festival starts at 7pm in the Stein Auditorium. The programme includes choreographies from Indian classical dance forms and instrumental performances by artists including Odissi dancer Debadatta Lahiri, Bharatanatyam performer Ambali Praharaj, Kathak artist Mayukh Bhattacharya and Odissi performer Kevin Bachchan. Entry is free; JLN Stadium on the Violet Line is the nearest Metro station.

The Korean Cultural Centre India in Lajpat Nagar-IV begins a three-day traditional folk music workshop on September 8. Sessions run from 10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4.30pm through September 10. Entry is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Moolchand on the Violet Line is closest.

Art in Pandara Road and events in Gurugram

Bikaner House’s Main Art Gallery is showing *Kani – Garden As First Sight*, curated by Satyajit Dave, from 11am to 7pm. The exhibition runs until September 10 and is free to visit. Khan Market on the Violet Line is the nearest station.

In Gurugram, comedian Appurv Gupta is scheduled to perform at Nerds of Comedy in Sushant Lok Phase I at 8pm. Tickets are listed through BookMyShow.

The National Silk Expo continues at Apparel House in Sector 44 from 11am to 8pm until September 9, with free entry. Millennium City Centre Gurugram is the closest Metro station for both venues.
