Gurugram Police said the men allegedly arranged bank accounts and transactions used in an investment fraud reported by a Sector 25 resident.

A Sector 25 resident reported losing ₹13.85 crore in an investment fraud over several weeks in 2024, police said. Five men were arrested on Friday and Saturday, while police said a Karnal trader was also held for allegedly selling a company current account used in the transaction chain.

Five men have been arrested in connection with an alleged investment fraud in which a Sector 25 resident lost ₹13.85 crore over several weeks in 2024, Gurugram Police said.

Police identified those arrested as Neeraj Kumar of Delhi; Suraj Saroj of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh; and Surjeet Kumar, also known as Manas, Prashant Sharma and Tej Pratap Singh Shekhawat, all from Jaipur. Neeraj Kumar was arrested on Friday, while the other four were held in Dehradun and Shimla on Saturday.

Investigators allege the group handled bank accounts and transactions for the wider operation. They said ₹5 lakh from the alleged fraud reached accounts linked to a Karnal trader, Neeraj Gupta, in April. Gupta was arrested for allegedly selling his firm's current account; police said it later changed hands before being provided to the group.

Police said Surjeet allegedly operated an America-based application through which cryptocurrency commissions were converted to dollars and then withdrawn in rupees from ATMs. The case was registered at the Cybercrime (East) police station on November 4, 2024. Six phones and ₹60 lakh from various accounts have been recovered, police said.
