Vaishali-Ghazipur border entry gate remains unfinished since 2023

Five unfinished brick pillars, wrapped in bamboo and surrounded by weeds, have stood at the Vaishali-Ghazipur intersection since 2023, where an Uttar Pradesh entry gate was planned.

PWD executive engineer Raja Ram said the gate was intended to mark the entry into Uttar Pradesh for commuters arriving from Delhi. The plan called for five pillars at the border, similar to gates at other border points.

Ram said the contractor built the five pillars and then stopped work after funds did not arrive. The project is estimated to cost Rs 1.5 crore, and no money has been released so far, he said.

The department has sent several reports seeking funds but has not received a response, Ram said. A private real-estate hoarding now stands in front of the pillars, while the safety netting around the site has deteriorated.
