For one Gurgaon newcomer, trips home are no longer a ₹10,000 flight

For the woman behind the Instagram account @befikri_girllll, moving from Bengaluru to Gurgaon has changed the arithmetic of going home.

She said flights from Bengaluru to Delhi had typically cost ₹10,000, and sometimes ₹12,000. “Going home is no longer a ₹10,000 emotional investment,” she said in a video about her move.

Now based in Gurgaon, she said she has more ways to make the trip: by train, by car or by travelling with friends. On the day she filmed the video, she said she had joined a friend’s car for a journey of around four hours to her hometown.

Her light-hearted comparison of the two cities came with a local caveat: Bengaluru had offered clouds from an aircraft window, she said, while Gurgaon was offering “water on every roads.” Residents have separately documented waterlogged roads in Gurgaon after rain.
