Four walls removed in Greenwood City to reopen drainage routes

Town and country planning officials removed four walls blocking internal roads in Greenwood City, Sector 45, saying the structures had restricted road access and rainwater discharge.

The walls stood on routes connecting the licensed residential colony with an adjoining HSVP-plotted area. District Town Planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said the walls had blocked access and prevented rainwater from draining out of the HSVP layout, leading to water accumulation during heavy rain.

“There is no provision or guideline for erecting such walls on the boundary of a licensed plotted residential layout,” Madholia said. The department removed four blockages during the drive.

Officials also cleared an obstruction at an entry point on the service road along the metro corridor. They alleged that the owner of a guest house at A-191, Greenwood City, had blocked the entry. The department said it would initiate action concerning the guest house after completing the prescribed legal process.
