Modi sets 2047 Viksit Bharat goal in Red Fort address

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his Independence Day address at Delhi’s Red Fort to call for a developed, self-reliant India by 2047.

Modi said India’s 140 crore people would need to work towards the Viksit Bharat goal. He said ambition and resolve were needed to overcome challenges, and urged citizens to support swadeshi, self-reliance and the “Vocal for Local” campaign.

The Prime Minister said people across the country had contributed to India’s progress. He also said more than 25 crore people had been lifted out of poverty over the past 12 years.

Before reaching the Red Fort, Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
