Delhi Raksha Bandhan shops offer rudraksha and birthstone rakhis

Tanvi Madhaw bought a seven-chakra rakhi in Khan Market for ₹395, choosing a design with seven semi-precious stones instead of her usual quirky styles.

“I hope it helps my brother learn how to be patient,” said Madhaw, a Delhi researcher.

With Raksha Bandhan falling on August 28, shops and e-stores are offering amethyst, citrine and clear-quartz rakhis with evil-eye charms at ₹195, as well as rudraksha designs priced between ₹250 and ₹350.

Vikas Ahuja of Harshit Cosmetics in Rohini’s Sector 8 said customers have preferred sleeker rudraksha styles this year, including bands with small charms and diamond-shaped stones. Sellers market some of these products with claims including stress relief and blood-pressure regulation. Such claims are promotional claims and are not established medical treatment.

At the higher end, BeAbhika co-founder Rakshat Bardia said the e-store had sold 15,000 sterling-silver birthstone rakhis at ₹3,500 each. The designs are intended to remain wearable after Raksha Bandhan, with stones selected by birth month.
