Gurgaon rain: Jha’s cab covers 500 metres in two hours on Sohna Road

Bagish Jha left Sector 48 at 1.10pm on Monday with three hours to catch a 4.10pm train from New Delhi Railway Station. He said that nearly two hours later, his cab had covered about 500 metres on Sohna Road, reaching Subhash Chowk.

Jha said rain began around 12.45pm and waterlogging had formed outside his home by the time the cab arrived. He initially planned to reach the railway station by road, then redirected the cab to Millennium City Centre Metro station, the Yellow Line’s terminal, after traffic stopped moving.

The station was about 6km away, but Jha said flooded stretches and congestion on Sohna Road prevented the cab from reaching it. When the train departed at 4.10pm, the cab was near Sector 47, still short of the Metro station.

Jha said flooding and traffic also slowed his return trip.
