FSSAI inspections find expired sweets, pests and storage lapses at two Aerocity hotels

About 87 kg of expired sweets were destroyed during a food-safety inspection at one hotel in Delhi’s Aerocity, where inspectors also found bread packets carrying expired stickers.

The inspection recorded poor separation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, as well as complaints and observations of cockroaches, flies and a foul smell in kitchen areas. In the pastry section, inspectors found expired cake bases alongside flies and cockroaches.

At another Aerocity hotel, a roughly two-day inspection recorded 59 deficiencies. Inspectors found mouldy apples, rotten tomatoes and several food items stored in the open. They also noted gaps in the storage of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, cockroaches and broken containers in the bakery section.

Some packaged food products at the second hotel reportedly lacked required FSSAI licences or endorsements, while others had labelling irregularities. The inspections were part of a wider food-safety enforcement drive.
