Bengaluru: G Ravinder Reddy show at Gallery Sumukha

G Ravinder Reddy’s sculpted heads begin at the hairline: elaborate hairstyles carry flowers, buds and jewellery above calm, kajal-lined eyes. His solo exhibition, *In Search of the Perfect Image*, is on view at Bengaluru’s Gallery Sumukha.

The works end at the neck, with no clothing depicted and no bindis on the figures’ foreheads. Reddy says he did not want the works tied to a particular community or religion, describing human life as larger than such markers.

Nature runs through the series in its colours and forms. Reddy links individual works to seasonal and celestial shifts, including autumn leaves, moonlight and sunlight. Jasmine and frangipani appear in whites, greys and blue tinges, while crossandra brings reds and oranges.

The Andhra Pradesh-born artist has worked for more than four decades and is known for painted polyester resin fibreglass heads. He studied at MS University of Baroda, Goldsmiths’ College of Arts and the Royal College of Art in London.

*In Search of the Perfect Image* is open until October 3, from 10.30am to 6pm. Entry is free. Gallery Sumukha is closed on Sundays.
