Mumbai–Goa NH-66 widening 93–94% complete, Gadkari says

Nitin Gadkari said he will arrive at Mumbai airport in October and travel by road to Goa to inspect the widened Mumbai–Goa highway from a traveller’s perspective.

The Union road transport and highways minister said the project is 93–94% complete. Calling its repeated delays “shameful”, he said he would not attend the highway’s inauguration because the widening had taken so long.

NH-66 runs through Maharashtra’s Konkan coast and is a key road link between Mumbai and Goa. Gadkari said he had met project officials and would assess whether completed sections had made the journey more convenient.

He also said he intended to blacklist contractors and suspend officials held responsible for delays and poor execution in infrastructure projects within the next year. No inauguration date was announced.
