Bengaluru readies 42 immersion sites and 659 mobile tanks for Gauri-Ganesh

Special Gauri-Ganesh rituals began around 2am on Monday at Basavanagudi’s Dodda Ganapathi Temple, where devotees queued for darshan.

The temple held pujas, abhisheka and floral decorations, and plans to distribute prasadam from 6am to midnight. Its management has also made arrangements to regulate visitor movement.

Across Bengaluru, households and neighbourhoods installed idols of Gauri and Ganesha. Some residents chose clay and other natural-material idols, while sweet shops and homes prepared modak for the festival.

For the immersion period, the Greater Bengaluru Authority said it has arranged 42 lake premises or temporary immersion tanks and 659 ward-wise mobile tanks across the city’s five corporations. Police have made security arrangements at designated locations to manage crowds.

Bengaluru has banned plaster-of-Paris Ganesha idols for the Gowri-Ganesha festival.
