Gautam Budh Nagar orders checks on liquor shop staff and billing

Liquor shops in Gautam Budh Nagar will face closer checks on prices, operating hours and staff records under directions from the district excise department.

District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar said licensees found selling liquor above the prescribed price can face action. Retailers have also been instructed to follow their permitted operating hours; sales after closing time can lead to action against the licensee.

The department has made police verification mandatory for every salesman working at a liquor outlet. Retailers must record all sales through point-of-sale machines and keep stock and sales registers aligned with those transactions.

Excise inspectors have been directed to conduct regular checks in their allotted areas. The inspections will cover pricing, operating hours, staff verification, electronic billing and the availability of prescribed products at outlets.
