Gautam Budh Nagar gives construction sites 15 days to set up creches

Construction sites in Gautam Budh Nagar employing 50 or more workers have 15 days to set up creches for workers’ children.

District magistrate Medha Roopa said the facilities are intended to give children a safe, clean and child-friendly place while their parents work. They must be located away from dust, smoke and other potentially hazardous conditions, and be accessible to workers and employees at the site.

A woman must be placed in charge of each creche, while every staff member must undergo police verification. The administration has also required CCTV monitoring, a register of children admitted, first-aid facilities and displayed emergency numbers, including Dial 112 and Child Helpline 1098. Physical or mental punishment of children is prohibited.

After completing the arrangements, site owners must inform the deputy director, Factories, in Sector 63, Noida, and the additional labour commissioner in Sector 3.
