Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation says it will waive the 12% annual penalty on outstanding property tax if full dues are paid by December 15.

Ghaziabad property owners must declare intent by November 14 and pay full outstanding tax by December 15 to receive a penalty waiver.

More than 60,000 Ghaziabad property-tax payers with outstanding dues can have penalty charges waived if they pay the full principal amount by December 15.

Under Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation’s one-time settlement scheme, the waiver applies to the 12% annual penalty on property tax unpaid as of April 1, 2026. Residents and businesses must declare their intention to settle by November 14 to use the scheme.

GMC estimates that it could waive about ₹120 crore in penalties. Property tax in the city includes house, water and sewer taxes and applies to roughly five lakh establishments.

For residential properties, rates depend on road width: ₹3.40 per square foot on roads wider than 24 metres, ₹2.81 per square foot on roads between 12 and 24 metres wide, and ₹2.28 per square foot on narrower roads. Commercial rates are higher than residential rates.

In 2024-25, GMC collected ₹609 crore in revenue, including ₹340 crore from property tax. The settlement window closes on December 15.
