GMDA awards ₹3.3 crore track contract for Gurugram’s Leisure Valley Park

Gurugram’s Leisure Valley Park in Sector 28 is set to get a nearly 2-km synthetic walking and running track, replacing the unpaved path used by visitors in the morning and evening.

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) awarded the contract, worth about ₹3.30 crore, after receiving bids from five companies. Survey work has begun, and construction is expected to start next month. GMDA expects the project to be completed by September next year.

Workers will lay the 16-mm track over a concrete base, with an 8-mm layer of recycled rubber granules beneath an 8-mm top layer of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM). GMDA officials visited parks in Delhi to assess similar tracks before finalising the plan. They said the surface would offer greater comfort for walkers and runners.

The contractor will maintain the track for five years and deploy two personnel each day for cleaning and upkeep. Pawan Rana, a regular visitor, said the upgrade would benefit the many people who use the park for walking and jogging.
