Gurugram: GMDA orders audit after Tau Devi Lal Stadium wall collapse

Around 50 feet of a projection wall at the cricket pavilion in Gurugram’s Tau Devi Lal Stadium collapsed. No injuries were reported.

GMDA has restricted movement inside and near the pavilion and will remove projections along the structure as an immediate safety measure. Debris from the collapse has been cleared. The authority said the pavilion is more than two decades old and that recent rain had weakened the structure.

A third-party audit will assess the Sector 38 campus, including the cricket pavilion, athletics stadium and sports hostel, for weak spots. GMDA said it would implement the audit’s recommendations.

GMDA is also finalising a tender for a proposed ₹634-crore overhaul of the complex. Subject to approval by the competent authority, the project is expected to upgrade sports facilities and retrofit existing pavilions.
