GMDA plans traffic alert boards, emergency kiosks on six Gurugram roads
A proposed ₹7 crore GMDA system would add 20 digital displays and 16 emergency call-point kiosks across six high-traffic road stretches in Gurugram.
GMDA plans digital traffic alerts and emergency kiosks on six Gurugram road stretches under a proposed ₹7 crore project.
Commuters on MG Road, Medanta Road and four other Gurugram stretches may receive diversion and flood alerts at junctions under a proposed GMDA project.
The ₹7 crore plan covers 20 digital message displays with public-address systems and 16 emergency call-point kiosks. GMDA has identified MG Road from IFFCO Chowk to Golf Course Road; Hamilton Court Road; Vyapar Kendra Road; Atul Kataria Chowk to Signature Tower; Rajeev Chowk to Bakhtawar Chowk, also called Medanta Road; and Hero Honda Chowk to Sector 29.
GMDA’s integrated command and control centre would monitor all installations. The boards would carry alerts in English and the local language, including warnings about road blockages, diversions, breakdowns and flooding.
At an emergency kiosk, a person could press a button to speak to the police control room or command centre. If no one answers, the call would be diverted to the nearest police station. CCTV links would allow officials to view the location before responding.
GMDA expects the work to take four months after the project is allocated.
