GMDA plans sewage treatment plant in Gurugram’s Sector 107

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is set to develop a sewage treatment plant in Sector 107, alongside a pumping station, as part of an effort to curb untreated sewage entering the Yamuna through the Najafgarh drain.

The proposed sewage treatment plant will have a capacity of 100 million litres per day (MLD). The accompanying pumping station is planned with a 400 MLD capacity. Together, the facilities are intended to handle sewage before it flows through the drain towards the river.

For residents in and around Gurugram, the plan is significant because the Najafgarh drain is a key channel linked to the Yamuna. Treating sewage before discharge could reduce the amount of untreated wastewater reaching the river.

The announcement places Sector 107 at the centre of a new sewage-management project for Gurugram. The GMDA has identified the treatment plant and pumping station as measures to prevent untreated sewage water from flowing into the Yamuna via the Najafgarh drain. The stated capacities are 100 MLD for treatment and 400 MLD for pumping.
